Mary Lena Shaw, 96, of Mooresville, died with family at her side at the Meadow Lakes in Mooresville on Sunday, July 6, 2025.  She was born in Monticello, Kentucky on February 10, 1929 to the late James Alto Eckels and Lena (Dillon) Eckels.

She worked for over 30 years for the Mooresville Consolidated School Corporation as a cook.  She also had worked on the assembly line at RCA.  She married James Howard Shaw on February 20, 1954.  The couple had raised four boys and enjoyed over fifty years of marriage when he preceded her in passing in 2004.  A follower of Jesus, she was a Baptist and a charter member of the Life Line Baptist Church in Mooresville.  A dedicated wife and mother to her boys, she enjoyed cooking, cleaning, and caring for her family.  She was a constant supporter of her children in their sporting and other activities and then later the same for her grandchildren.

Mary will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by many including her sons, Garry (wife, Debra) Shaw of Cave City, Kentucky, Daniel (wife, Lisa) Shaw of Mooresville, and Scott Shaw of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, David Shaw, Adam Shaw, and Caleb Shaw; and great grandchildren, Rivera Shaw and Mya Shaw.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lena Eckels; husband, James Shaw; son, Stephen Shaw; brothers, Raymond Eckels, Haskel Eckels, and Charles Eckels; and sisters, Irene Eckels, Virginia Dunn, and Frances Wright.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, July 10th from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory.  Mary’s Life Celebration® Service will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery following the service.

  2. When I would see SWEET MARY she would say “I want to go home” now she is. She is now HOME. with her SAVIOUR.JESUS CHRIST. my mother and Mary were dear friends. Now they are both together sitting at Jesus feet

  3. Mary was the sweetest lady, & she always had a smile on her face. I was responsible for payroll for Mooresville Schools for 17 years & I always enjoyed seeing her when she came in to central office. Prayers of condolences for the family.
