Matthew Jon Upton

Matthew Jon Upton, 51, of Mooresville, left this life in the comforts of the family home with loved ones at his side on Friday, March 28, 2025.  He was born to Cathy June (Ross) Upton and the late John Thomas Upton in Indianapolis on August 8, 1973.

He graduated from Mooresville High School with the class of 1992.  He worked for several companies over the years and was most recently employed by Peterbilt in Indianapolis where he was a delivery driver.  Matthew loved anything with wheels.  From dirt bikes to cars, you most certainly could say he had a need for speed.  Always a fun-loving kid at heart, he was even known to do a wheelie or two in a spare wheelchair if he ran across one.

He will be missed by his friends and family including his mother, Cathy Upton of Mooresville; daughter, Marissa Upton (boyfriend, Ben) of Indianapolis; brothers, John Upton Jr. of Bowling Green, KY and Floyd Upton of Indianapolis; and sisters, Tammy Deal of Indianapolis, Beulah Upton of Mooresville, Joanna Upton of Indianapolis, Ginny Upton of Indianapolis, and Jessica Kirkley of Martinsville.

Matthew was preceded in death by his father, John Thomas Upton; and sister, Angie Fergason.

His earthly remains have been cremated.  There will be a celebration of life at a later date.  Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory has been entrusted with the cremation arrangements.
