Michael Anthony Monik

Michael A. Monik, 65, of Gary, passed peacefully in the comfort of the Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis on Friday, August 30, 2024. He was born in Gary, Indiana on November 28, 1958 to the late Louis P. Monik Sr. and Adeline D. (Horszt) Monik

He married Carol Yarbough, and the couple had a daughter, Kristina. Carol passed all too soon on November 7, 2009. Michael worked in the maintenance department for the Lake Ridge School Corporation in Gary. He was a member of the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Gary. He enjoyed being outdoors, had a passion for baseball, and enjoyed watching Fox News. 

He is survived by his family and friends including his daughter, Kristina (Dennis) Frazee of Center Grove; companion, Diane Cagle of Gary; brothers, Louis (Melody) Monik II of Gary, John (Norma) Monik of Syracuse, and Anthony Monik (Jayson Cox-Monik) of Krum, Texas; sisters, Maryann (Jack) Mancilla of Crown Point and Therese Monik of Demotte; and grandchildren, Tyler Frazee and Tyson Frazee both of Center Grove.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Louis and Adeline; wife, Carol Monik; and brother, Jim Monik.

Mr. Monik’s remains have been cremated and there are no services scheduled. Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements.
