Myra Lou Miller

May 11, 1943 ~ September 27, 2025

Born in: Morgantown, Kentucky
Resided in: Brooklyn, Indiana

On September 27, 2025, Myra Lou Miller, age 82, passed unexpectedly into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was born in Morgantown, Kentucky to Bernice Erline Hunt and William Ainsworth Tilford II. On June 16, 1961, she married the love of her life, Daniel Miller of Salem, Indiana. Their love story began when Daniel heard a voice telling him to go to Campbellsburg High School. There, she was with his friend Melster, he first saw Myra and was immediately captivated by her beautiful, infectious smile. That very next day he made it his mission to find out who she was, and from that moment, their story was written.

They spent 64½ years together in love, devotion, laughter, and family. Even before children came along, their first “baby” was a Toy Pomeranian named Britches. It took them ten years to welcome their first child, a daughter, an experience they often joked about, saying they “had fun trying.” Two years later, they were blessed with another daughter, and three years after that, their only son. Myra and Dan shared a love for animals and found joy in the dogs, birds, and wildlife that enriched their lives. Most recently they shared a love for their beloved Skipper. Myra cherished being a wife, a mother, and grandmother above all else.

Before her marriage, Myra took on a nurturing role at home, helping her mother raise nearly all of her brothers and sister. Later, she trained as a hairdresser, where her natural gift for kindness and connection shone through with every cut and perm given. Myra’s selfless love was also seen in how she gathered her family together, hosting Christmas celebrations filled with warmth and laughter, and ringing in the New Year with joyful parties that created treasured memories for all.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brothers Edward Ainsworth Tilford and Frank Hunt, as well as her beloved sister, Marline Morehouse. She is survived by her devoted husband Daniel; her daughters, Dana (Jeff) Lynn, Christina Bowman; son, Daniel K. Miller Jr.; four grandchildren, Sebastian, Josey, Zachary, Rayann; brothers Gerald “Dean” (Wanda) Hunt, Jess Hunt, William “Bill” (Bonnie) Tilford, and Robert “Bob” (Becky) Heflin; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends.

Myra was an artist at heart, a painter, sketcher, and creator. She enjoyed sharing her creativity with others and expressed her talents in many ways. She was also a proud Brownie troop leader, a stay-at-home mom who worked part-time jobs here and there, and she lent her helping hands to her sister with Movieland U.S.A. and Morehouse Grocery in Lantern Hills.

She will be remembered for her radiant smile, her selfless love, her strong faith, and her devotion to family. Though we grieve, we hold to the promise of reunion in Christ. And as she would wink at us often and say with a twinkle in her eye, “See you later, alligator.”

Funeral services will be held at Good Shephard Baptist Church, Mooresville on Friday, October 3, 2025 with a showing from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with her funeral on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Centerton Cemetery. Her church family is graciously providing a meal following her funeral service. Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.

Flowers may be sent to Good Shepherd Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may also be made to the church that she so deeply cherished and where she faithfully worshiped for many years.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. So many fun memories as s child. Your house and all the fun slumber parties are always one of the first memories I think about when I seen you and Dan
. You touched many souls with the love and fun you insisted we have. Thank you for your love and guidance.
    Love, Marla Deaton

  2. My childhood has so many memories of hanging with The Miller’s. Sleepovers, cruising around in a Firebird with T-Tops before seatbelts were the law. The big beautiful home that we ran around. So many memories. Myra always called me “Baby”. She was a wonderful woman who will be missed.

  3. So many years of friendship with this family, Myra was such a sweet lady, and we are so sorry for this horrific loss.

  4. Aunt Myra was such an infectious personality. If she was laughing you were at least smiling. If she was in a bad mood she made sure everyone knew it, and then you made it your mission to cheer your aunt Myra up. She was the biggest sweet heart and always wanted some love or “sugar”. She couldn’t keep her hands out of my hair and always told me how handsome I was. Even when she couldn’t remember me she always did those two things. And said, “I don’t remember you but I remember I love you.” I love you too Aunt Myra. Rest in the arms of the lord. No one could show love like you did, and in many ways, still do.
