Pauline Cherry
88 of Clayton, Indiana passed away peacefully at her home on February 18, 2026. She was born as Pauline Grace Skinner to her parents Jimmie and Ella Mae (Rose) Skinner in Jackson County Kentucky on January 14, 1938.
A celebration of Pauline’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21st from 11:00am- 2:00pm at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville, with funeral services beginning at 2:00pm Saturday in the funeral home, officiated by The Reverend Steve Ranson of Stilesville Christian Church. Burial will follow at White Lick Cemetery.
Pauline was the school secretary at Mill Creek East Elementary in Clayton for over 30 years, winning numerous awards including Indiana School Secretary of the Year in 2002. More than anything she was a smiling face and a warm and caring soul who impacted the daily lives of hundreds of students and their teachers. She is best known for her incredible sense of humor who loved to play harmless practical jokes on everyone. She was a huge sports fan and loved spending countless hours playing card games with her kids and grandkids.
She was for many years a member of Homemakers and Red Hats Clubs, and was also an avid golfer playing with some of her best friends known as the Ladybugs.
She is preceded in death by her son Michael Patrick Cherry, her parents Jimmie and Ella Mae Skinner, sisters Imogene and Judy, brothers Harold, Earl, Ruie, and Jimmie Dean.
She is survived by her husband and high school sweetheart and love of her life Richard “Butch” Cherry, who were married for more than 68 years. Pauline is also survived by her son Jeff (Lorrie), daughter Melissa. Buckrop (Tony), grandchildren Courtney, Corbin, Houston, Stephen and Caroline. Great-grandchildren (Grant and Claire), (Maelee), (Owen and Evan).
She is also survived by sisters Berniece, Velma, Wanda, Ella, and Cindy; brothers Leon, Billy, and Jack. Survived also by numerous nieces and nephews. She touched the lives of so many and will be missed by all.

Pauline was my softball coach when I was about 8. The grasshoppers. Missy I’m so sorry. She was a great lady. She and mom were in home ec together.
