Rachel Elizabeth Stone

Rachel Elizabeth Stone, 96, a lifelong Mooresville resident, died on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at the Franciscan Hospital in Mooresville. She was born at home in Mooresville on December 25, 1927 to the late Henry H. Quinn and Pearl Verna (Ballinger) Quinn.

She married the love of her life, Robert William Stone, on June 14, 1946. Together Robert and Rachel had three daughters and had enjoyed over 48 years of marriage when he passed on July 14, 1994.

Rachel was a dedicated homemaker focusing her life on caring for her family and others. She relished the time she spent babysitting her grandchildren. She was the organized family photographer always taking pictures and labeling each one with the date and the people in the photo. In her leisure time, she enjoyed puzzles and coloring. She was a member of the Town Center Church of God in Mooresville. She enjoyed many travels and shows with her church family.

She is survived by her loving family including her daughters, Debbie Stone (significant other, Joe) of Plainfield, Kimberlee (husband, John) Campbell of Avon, and Robin (husband, Curtis) Lodge of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Meleea Powell, Keasha Kistler, Travis Firkins, Zachary Stone, Matthew Stone, Kristee Campbell, and Elizabeth Campbell; 18 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Henry and Pearl; husband, Robert Stone; all 10 of her siblings; and grandson, Thadius Firkins.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, August 19th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. Rachel’s Life Celebration® Service will begin at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 20th at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest alongside her late husband, Robert, in West Newton Cemetery following the service.
