Richard Cole Wilson, 65, of Mooresville, passed unexpectedly on Monday, August 18, 2025 at his home. He was born in Bloomington, Indiana to the late Sherrell L. Wilson and Helen J. (Brummett) Wilson Fox.
He attended Martinsville High School and worked for the Indiana Department of Transportation until he retired. He was a member of VFW Post IIII Auxiliary and a member of the American Legion Riders Chapter 103. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting deer, turkey, rabbit, mushroom, and women! Most importantly, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching the family sporting events and was especially proud of his youngest son, Bronson, who is in his senior year playing college football at the University of St. Francis.
Richard is survived by his family and friends including his daughter, Rachel Knight of Bargersville; sons, Joseph Wilson of Greenwood, Joshua (wife, Carissa) Wilson of Indianapolis, and Bronson (wife, Makenna) Kooy of Fort Wayne; sister, Leesa (husband, Sam) Reneau; and grandchildren, Matthew Wilson, Tyler Wilson, Paxton Knight, Eleanore Wilson, Piper Knight, Parker Knight, and Sawyer Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Sherrell Wilson and Helen Fox and son, Brogan Kooy.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, August 24th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. Richard’s Life Celebration® Service will follow, beginning at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with family and friends sharing memories. Richard’s earthly remains have been cremated.

I sure miss my cousin, Richard. I always felt like he was my only link to my Dad’s side of the family. I will surely miss our goofy conversations.
