Richard Cole Thompson, 28, passed away on March 5, 2024. He was born in Putnam County on June 8, 1995, to Richard Thompson and Maureen (Angus) Wheeler. Cole attended Cloverdale schools and graduated in 2014. Most recently, Cole was employed with SignDoc Identity LLC.
Cole enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing. He loved listening to music and had a talent for singing and playing the guitar and drums. Cole spent most of his time hanging out with his buddies. Anyone who knew Cole loved him and his big heart.
Cole is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dick and Karon Thompson.
Survivors include his parents, Richard (Tammy) Thompson and Maureen (Darrell) Wheeler; sister, Courtney Michalik; brother, Briar (Bella) Wheeler; maternal grandparents, Ron and Nancy Angus; nephews, Ayden, Ashton, Bryce; niece, Gracen; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Cole’s life on Wednesday, March 13th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 14th at 11:00 am at St Thomas More Church in Mooresville. Burial will follow the mass in White Lick Cemetery. Our deepest condolences. We are so sorry for your loss. Im just at a loss for words. Cole was such a sweetheart. I loved him so very much. I love you all.
Cole was a breath of fresh air. He made everyone laugh. He was the biggest teddy bear. He was a loyal friend. He was one of my best friends throughout high school and one of my first friends when I moved to cloverdale IN. I went off to the Navy and we kept in touch somewhat but I wish it was more . My heart breaks for his family and I am so so sorry for your loss. Cole is so loved .

Cole was such a kind and good-hearted person. He’d always be the first one to give you a hug on a bad day and say something goofy to make you laugh and brighten your mood. We had a good friendship when we were younger and I’ll always cherish those memories. It was nice to have a friend that lived close to me in town growing up and was always ready to hang out. Oh my heart aches for you all. Cole and I were just getting to know one another but man did he make my life so much easier. I’m completely devastated for everyone. Thank you for sharing Cole with us.
Cole, I already miss you so much cuz but I know this isn’t goodbye this is just see you soon! Thank you for your bright smile. This picture is my favorite memory with you. I remember you let me play your red drum set that day too. Even though Tim didn’t get the pleasure of knowing you as long he misses you too and thanks you for being so supportive at our wedding. We’ll never forget how much you loved our vows. It showed how big of a heart you have. ❤️
