Ronald F. Martin

December 24, 1932 ~ December 31, 2025

Born in: Waverly, Ohio
Resided in: Plainfield, Indiana

Ronald F. Martin, 93, of Plainfield, passed away on December 31, 2025, at Cumberland Trace.

He was born on December 24, 1932, in Waverly, Ohio to the late Francis and Martha (Grimm) Martin. Ron graduated from Newcomerstown High School and later attended Ohio State University for two years.

On March 23, 1963, he married the love of his life, Shirley Flowers, with whom he shared 62 devoted years of marriage. Ron worked as a machine repairman for General Motors, retiring in 1998 after a long and dedicated career.

Ron was a man of deep faith and community. He was a member of Plainfield Christian Church and previously a member of First Christian Church in Weirton, West Virginia.

He had a lifelong passion for mechanics and could fix nearly anything mechanical. Ron loved working on cars, tinkering in his workshop, and was especially fond of classic cars—most notably his 1984 convertible Buick Riviera. He was also a proud member of the Riviera Owners Association. His skills extended beyond the garage; he built many things for his home, including decks and a carport, always with care and precision.

An avid Indianapolis Colts fan, Ron also enjoyed watching other Indiana sports. During the years he and Shirley lived in West Virginia, they cherished time spent boating and water skiing with friends.

Above all, Ron loved his family. He was known as a hard worker, a kind-hearted man, and someone who quietly showed his love through his actions. He will be remembered for his generosity, skill, and steadfast devotion to those he loved.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Martin; son, Stephen Martin; nephew, Bryan Martin (Sarah); and great-nephews, Ayden and Kyler.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Scott Martin.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron’s honor to Churches In Mission, 27 S Indiana St., Mooresville, Indiana 46158.
