Sharon Lynne Stephens

September 5, 1944 ~ December 4, 2021
Sharon Lynne Stephens, 77, Mooresville, passed away December 4, 2021, at The Gathering Together. Mrs. Stephens was born September 5, 1944, in New Castle, to the late Emster P. and Dorothy (Stegner) Browning. She was married to John Stephens for more than 57 years, before his death in 2018.
Sharon attended Chrysler High School and was proud to maintain many high school friendships, enjoying monthly lunches with those special friends. She worked for the Allison Division of General Motors and retired from Rolls Royce after more than 25 years of employment. She was a former member of Kingsway Christian Church and more recently attended Mt. Gilead Church, where she loved being a part of the Yarning for God group. Armed with an adventurous spirit, Sharon loved snowmobiling, jet skiing, boating, but was just as content gardening and crocheting. She also loved the beach and enjoyed many hours of shelling on Sanibel Island. Above all, she was an extremely loving grandma and great grandma – keeping a tradition of taking the great grandchildren out to eat and to pick out a special present on their respective birthdays. Sharon will be fondly remembered by her family and many friends for her kind and loving spirit.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Pam Browning and her special aunt, Helen Buckley.
Survivors include her children, Julie (Brian) Justus, Jeff (Amie) Stephens, Jenny (Rob) Thompson, and Joe (Kerri) Stephens; siblings, Ronnie (the late Sandy) Brooks and Marla (Jim) Johnson; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, with one on the way.
Sharon’s Life Celebration® Visitation will be Tuesday, December 7, 2021, 4 to 7 p.m., at Mt. Gilead Church, 6019 E. State Road 144, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at the church, with Jeff Faull officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to The Gathering Together, 147 N. Center St., Plainfield, IN 46168 or to Mt. Gilead Church, 6019 E. SR 144, Mooresville, IN 46158. Visit www.CarlisleBranson.com to share a favorite memory or to sign the online guest registry.
