Tonja Faye Blaschke

Tonja Faye Blaschke, 70, of Mooresville, passed peacefully in the comfort of her home with family by her side on Saturday, October 28, 2023.  She was born in Indianapolis to the late Clarence “Tub” Burnside and Hazel Elizabeth (Mumaw) Burnside on October 10, 1953.

She graduated from Mooresville High School with the class of 1972.  The fall of the following year, she married the love of her life, Eddie Blaschke, on October 5, 1973.  Eddie and Tonja just celebrated 50 years of marriage earlier this month.

Tonja was no stranger to hard work.  She began working when she was just 14 years old at Kelly’s Restaurant in Mooresville as a waitress and cook.  She worked for Duke Energy (formerly PSI) in building maintenance from 1991 until she retired in 2023.

She enjoyed crocheting and flower gardening.  Most importantly, she enjoyed the time spent with her family.  She regularly attended sporting events and other activities where she enjoyed supporting her children, grandchildren, and other family members.

Tonja will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends including her husband, Eddie Blaschke of Mooresville; son, Eddie Blaschke II (wife, Mandy) of Mooresville; daughter, Brandi Willis (husband, Kevin) of Mooresville; sisters, Gail McClusky of Mooresville and Debi Turpin Burnside of Mooresville; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Hazel Burnside; and sister, Melody Boles.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service and Crematory in Mooresville.  Tonja’s Life Celebration® Service will immediately follow, beginning at 6:00 pm.  Following the service, her earthly remains will be cremated.

  8. Eddie and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Tonja’s passing – she was and has been my “buddy” for many years. We didn’t really get to know each other personally until she started working at PSI, but we quickly made up for the years we hadn’t been close friends. I miss her dearly – she helped me through several issues in my life and I am forever grateful to have known her and had such a special friend and wonderful person in my life.
My deepest sympathy to you Eddie, Eddie Jo, Brandi, and their families. I personally only know Eddie, but feel I have known the rest of the family for years.
Lots of happy memories, love and “hugs” to my special dear friend and her family.

  9. I have known Tonja for 45 years, she has always been the most vibrant and alive person i have ever known. We have had the most fun from talking about police over the CB that we thought could not hear us, to whoops here they come. We have laughed until we cried. Tonja i will miss you so so much. Heaven needed another angel, but i’m not sure heaven is ready. Fly among the stars and clouds until we see you again my friend. Love and healing prayers to the family. Love you all.
