Virginia Kay Morris, 72, of Mooresville, passed away at her home, June 15, 2025.
Kay was born on July 17, 1952, in Indianapolis to the late William and Irma (Dillon) Tansel.
On March 30, 1985, she married the love of her life, Richard “Rick” Morris.
Kay and Rick had one son, Richard Cody “R.C.” Morris (wife, Amanda), and a grandson, Trenton Michael Morris, all of Mooresville.
She was a graduate of Martinsville High School, class of 1970. Kay proceeded on to Beauty School, obtaining her beauty license. She worked for several years in Mooresville and Indianapolis, and eventually co-owned her own shop. She later worked at Monrovia and then Plainfield Dairyland locations until retirement.
Kay was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 103.
Kay loved her family and friends. She was a great cook. A specialty of hers was her fried green tomatoes and potato salad. She was known to accomplish many home projects on her own. Our Mother would say, “Where there is a will, there is Kay!”
Kay will be forever missed!
Survived by son Cody (Amanda); grandson, Trenton; brothers, Richard Tansel and Mark Tansel (Regina); sisters, Marilyn Bowers (Jerry), Sheila Bishop (Eugene), Peggy Watkins (Jim); sisters-in-law, Judy Tansel, Dana O’Neill (Jim), and Tammy Riesenmey (Russ); and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Cheryl (Tansel) Standeford; brothers, Robert and William M. Tansel; and sisters-in-law, Diane and Janet Tansel.
In keeping with Kay’s wishes, her earthly remains have been entrusted to Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville for cremation.
A graveside service will be held at Noon on Saturday, July 26, 2025, where she will be laid to rest with Rick at Mooresville Cemetery.
A celebration of life will follow the service at American Legion Post 103 in Mooresville.

Aunt Kay, thank you for all the haircuts(even the perm), multiple things you found for me at garage sales, and last but not least, hemming all of our pants! Until we meet again. Until Valhalla.
