Walter Bennett, 83, of Mooresville, went to be with The Lord on August 8, 2017. Walter was born June 21, 1934 in Gadberry, KY, to the late Dallas Ray Bennett and Nora Katherine (Wheeler) Bennett.

Walter was a simple, hardworking man, who loved his wife and family very much! He and his wife of 58 years, Katherine married on July 30, 1959 after only two months of courtship. He was a true gentleman and brought coffee for his wife everyday as they shared breakfast together. He also enjoyed gardening and would often bring his latest harvest of fresh vegetables to his friends and family to ensure they were well taken care of. He also enjoyed playing his guitar and signing. He worked as a machinist for Overton & Son in Mooresville for over 35 years, before retiring. He was also a member of the Shelby St. Lighthouse Church. He will be greatly missed by all!

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Katherine (Smith) Bennett, a son; Mike Bennett (Terri), Damon Bennett, daughters; Sheila Cagle (Mark), Michelle Imhausen (Scott), grandchildren; Dustin (Brittni), Matthew, Bradley, Tyler, Adam, Cameron, Madison, a great grandson; Owen and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held for Walter on Saturday August 12th at 2:00pm at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with visitation Saturday from 10am until time of the service. Burial will follow the services in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.

  1. Sitting in Camby McDonald’s talking quietly with him regarding scripture n what God wanted for each of us. I loved this Man. The Gates of Heaven have opened n are rejoicing.

  2. Singing with my friend. The thoughtfulness of him giving me a watch after loosing mine. This happened just 3 days prior. Rest In Peace my best friend.

  5. Always saw Walter at McDonalds. He was such a nice man. Always friendly and for a long time didn’t know his name. He was concerned for me when I had knee replacement. To the family, I am so sorry for your loss.
