Wilbur Ridge Asher

Wilbur R. Asher, 101, of Mooresville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 15, 2023. He was born on March 18, 1922 in Gosport, Indiana to the late Bert and Mae Asher.
He married Maurine McCullough on June 28, 1951. Wilbur was a graduate of Gosport High School and attended Indiana University. Wilbur worked at Link Belt from 1942-1980.
After retiring, Wilbur enjoyed watching grandchildren until they started grade school. He had a passion for gardening and working in his yard. In later years, Wilbur built thousands of bluebird houses, many being donated to the local North American Bluebird Societies. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mooresville.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his wife, Maurine; his parents; and two sisters, Mary Asher and Marilynn Morine.
Wilbur is survived by his daughter, Janet (husband, Dennis) Gibbs of Plainfield; son, David (wife, Leslie) Asher; five grandchildren, Daniel (wife, Elaina) Gibbs, Duane (wife, Kelly) Gibbs, Emily Asher, Isaac (wife, Liz) Asher, and Sydney Wampler; seven great grandchildren, Haylea, Korbin, Kason, Keegan, Haddie, Emmy, and Frances.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service and Crematory. Wilbur’s Life Celebration® Service will follow beginning at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest alongside his late wife, Maurine, in Gosport Cemetery.
