Denzil Fugate
61 of Plainfield, passed away on September 20, 2024 at his home. Denzil was born on September 17, 1963 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Elhanon Fugate, Jr. and Lois (Hensley) Fugate.
Denzil proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Navy. Upon returning home from service, Denzil worked as a supervisor for United Parcel Service for many years, retiring in 2018. However, full retirement didn’t suit Denzil as he enjoyed staying active. So, he went back to work as a senior material handler for Epson. Additionally, he was a faithful member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church.
Proud of his Kentucky roots, he was an avid UK fan, who loved animals of all kinds, cooking and traveling to the beach. He will be remembered for his loving, generous, compassionate, trustworthy spirit, who was determined to fight for those he loved and cared about.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, husband Larry Atha; siblings Bobby, Virgil, Paul, Ronnie, Ricky, Tonna, Brenda, and Donna.
He is survived by his sisters Betty McKinney and her husband Tom of Martinsville, Sandra Connelly of North Carolina; a special nephew Jacob Fugate, and his wife Dana; a special great nephew Jacob Fugate, Jr; a special great niece Delaney Fugate, as well as a host of other nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly.
In keeping with his wishes, Denzil was cremated, and no formal services will be observed at this time. However, memorial contributions are encouraged to be made in Denzil’s memory to the Hendricks County Humane Society, 3033 E. Main Street, Danville, IN 46122, https://www.hendrickshumane.org/ .
