February 23, 1942 ~ November 9, 2023
James G. Johnson, 81, Mooresville, devoted husband of Susan (McKillip) Johnson, passed away unexpectedly November 9, 2023, while working on his farm. Jim was born February 23, 1942, in Indianapolis, to the late Gordon and Helen (Snyder) Johnson.
Jim graduated from Shortridge High School and earned a degree in Agriculture from Purdue University. He was an avid Boilermaker fan; his mother having founded the university’s school of nursing. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7431 and the 4th Degree Bishop Chatard Assembly. Jim loved the outdoors – especially caring for his beloved farm where he raised cattle and baled hay. Jim served his community as a precinct committeeman for many years and was on the Madison Township Board. Jim will be fondly remembered for his hard work ethic, his willingness to always lend a helping hand and for his gifts as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Johnson.

Words cannot express how sorry I am to see the passing of a wonderful man like Jim. He always greeted everyone with a warm smile, he never hesitated to help others, and he always cherished his time with friends and family. What an amazing legacy he created through so many children and grandchildren! He had a huge heart, but the hole his absence in this world leaves is even bigger. I am forever grateful for the times we shared and the memories we made.
We knew Jim through his service to the Madison Township Board. Thank you, Jim, for your continued support and commitment to Madison Township. You will be greatly missed. Our deepest sympathy to all of your family and friends.

Dear Susan and the entire Johnson family and friends,
We first met Jim over 40 years ago, after he married my best friend, Susan. Jim graciously put up with our visits and numerous times picked us up or took us to the airport. Jim attended our high school reunions and found a sympathetic friend in my husband.
Jim was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a man of principles and a straight shooter on his thoughts. His work ethic was unmatched as he derived so much pleasure in working with the land and animals. We were able to visit with our grandson a few years ago, Jim patiently and proudly explained the workings of the farm and introduced us to the cows.
We are most grateful for the loving ,caring way he cherished his wife, children and grandchildren.
Jim was “one of a kind”, unable to be replaced and will be greatly missed.
May God’s blessings comfort Jim’s family and friends. I am sorry and it is with regret I learned of his passing for he was always friendly, kindly to others, and thoughtful in conversation. We need more like him! He will be missed. Sincere condolences. Ralph Foley

Sir Knight Jim was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus brother. It will be my privilege to stand beside him during visitation hours. He was generous and outgoing to all he met….a true Christian Gentleman. Beth and I wish Susan and the family God’s peace and comfort in their hour of sorrow. We will be praying for all of you.
We all remember how he donated bags of corn for the children’s tent at our Apple Fest. Children and adults had a great time playing in the corn box. We have always appreciated Jim’s willingness to help others. Thank you, Jim, for a life of service to others an for the great example you have given by living the Christian faith.
Jim and Susan were our neighbors. We are so saddened by Jim’s passing. Jim always lent a helping hand to us. We so enjoyed our many talks discussing cows, gardens, hay cutting etc…and Glenn and Jim joking with each other. Until we meet again neighbor. Love you both.
