Norma Kenney

Norma Elaine Kenney, 91, of Mooresville, passed away on July 29, 2023, at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Gary, Indiana on August 21, 1931, to the late Carl and Linnea (Bruhn) Swanson. Norma graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1949, and attended nursing school at Methodist Hospital in Gary, Indiana. She married Robert Kenney on April 25, 1953, and he survives. Norma worked as a registered nurse at Ross Clinic in Merrillville, Indiana for over 20 years. 

Norma was a member of St Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Martinsville.  She and Robert raised their family in Merrillville, Indiana and moved to Martinsville upon retirement. They built a beautiful log home there that became the gathering spot for family holidays for many years.  Norma loved celebrating birthdays, weddings, graduations and attending her grand and great-grandchildren’s school and sports activities.  Spending time and keeping in touch with family was Norma’s greatest joy. 

In addition to her parents, Norma is preceded in death by her great-grandson, David Dodd.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Robert Kenney; son, Jeff (Linda) Kenney; daughter, Lynn (Chris) Sherrow; grandchildren, Jamie (Michael) Dodd, Scott (Nicole) Kenney, Korry (Stephanie) Sherrow, Lia Stark, Emilee (Jorge) Sherrow-Diaz; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Norma’s Life Celebration® Visitation and Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service in Mooresville. The family will accept friends for visitation from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norma’s honor to Traditions Health Hospice Care, 7215 East 21^st Street, Suite A, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Dr. Randall Lee and Traditions Health Hospice for their compassionate care during her illness.
