  6. I only met Larry about 3 short years ago, but I felt like I had known him all of my life. He took me under his wing, shared his time, taught me, shepherded me, played Frisbee golf with me, gardened with me, broke bread with me, studied God’s word with me, went back to where I lived for 40 years with me to meet my brothers in Christ and loved me like a brother. He will leave a big hole in my life….but… we will meet again in paradise. If those who were with him when he went home could have put on ‘spiritual glasses’, I’m sure they would have seen smiling angels surrounding him preparing to take him to meet Jesus. Oh happy day for Larry! My deepest condolences for Carole and all of the Diersing family. See ya later buddy, Steve Wand

  11. Larry was a ‘distant’ cousin that I had the pleasure of meeting in Indianapolis many years ago. Together we researched the Diersing families but were never able to clearly establish our relationship. He was a wonderful spouse and father, and a loving brother. We will all miss his presence but have many memories to rejoice in. Rest now in peace in the Lord’s House.

  14. A life well lived. Faith and family meant everything to Larry as did helping his fellow man. ‘For I was hungry, and you gave me meat; I was thirsty, and you gave me drink: I was a stranger and you took me in: Naked, and you clothed me. I was sick and you visited me. I was in prison, and you came unto me’. ‘Precious in His sight are the death of his saints. . . . ‘ Farewell dear brother in law, I’ll see you soon. Cheryl

You were a beautiful example to us all, with your fervent, total love for our sweet Jesus. Jane Gilbert, your friend and cousin

He will be in our thoughts and you will be in our prayers, We are confident that Larry won’t need them anymore. Mike & Jeannie Maher Raleigh, NC

  29. I was saddened to hear of Larry’s passing today from my father. Some of the 65th Street neighbors are still around and word of any news stills travels down the street just like it did when I was a kid. Mom and dad (Paul and Roz Whitehead) are finally selling their home and dad was contacted by Jim Silvey about Larry’s passing. Looking at the video brings back so many memories. As I was telling my husband ‘Big Larry’ as we called him, seemed to always wear a dress shirt or polo shirt. It was rare to ever see him in a t-shirt and when you did they were never ratty! Watching the video, Larry and Carol both look like they did the day that they moved away (just with a little whiter hair.). We couldn’t have asked for better neighbors than your family. There were so many golf conversations between dad, Larry and Jerry (Williams) I really thought they would go through with building their own chip and putt one day. Our thoughts are with the entire family but especially to Carol, ‘Little Larry’ and Lori. Please let us know if we can do anything for your family during this time. I am sorry that we will not be able to make the service I too surfer from a pancreas disease and would not wish this upon anyone. Remembering ‘Big Larry’ I am sure he fought a strong fight. As much as we never want to lose a great person, he is now in a great place watching over his family and friends. Much love, Tonya (Whitehead) Tilson.

  30. To the family of Larry Diersing, my deepest condolences to you all. I did not know Larry, as I came across the obituary by accident. But it is clear that he was a very loved man by his family and that he returned that love tenfold. I watched the tribute video, and while I never met him, I was crying my eyes out while watching it. I am a father of 3 and grandfather of 4 myself. Usually, while having get-togethers and events with family, you get caught up in the moment at hand and forget to take pictures. While you may not have had a professional photographer with you at these events, it sure seemed like it! Such wonderful memories of Larry that you all will cherish forever. God bless all of you during this difficult time.
