William R. "Bill" Underwood

March 22, 1955 ~ January 31, 2024
William R. "Bill" Underwood, 68, of Camby, died on January 31, 2024 at his home. Bill was born on March 22, 1955, in Franklin, Indiana. He grew up in Martinsville where he graduated in 1973.
Bill was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, beginning when he was 15 years old. He was hired to do a painting project for the Honda Shop in Martinsville and his payment for the job was his first motorcycle - a 1970 Honda 160. Over the years, he enjoyed working on and rebuilding motorcycles. He and many of his friends took bike trips through the Smoky Mountains and the Badlands. When at home, Bill enjoyed the company of his Collie dog, Cassy. They would walk every day in the neighborhood and the local park. Bill retired from Indy West Harley Davidson in Plainfield where he worked as a mechanic.
Bill is survived by his sister, Linda (Kent) Clark; brother, Robert K. (Stephanie) Underwood; nephews, James M. Brinson, Jr., Alexander E. Ward, William R. Underwood, Elijah V. Underwood; and great-niece, Lauren Brinson.
Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary Eskridge; and her husband, Robert Eskridge.
Bill was loved by his family, extended biker family, and many friends. He will be greatly missed.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. Bill's service will begin at 6:00 pm. The family plans to share memories and would like to extend the invitation to all his family and friends to share during the service. Bill will be laid to rest privately at Sugarland Memory Gardens in Washington, Indiana.
I have known Billy for 40 years, used to go caving with him in Bloomington. Went to my first concert with him on New Year’s Eve 1984. REO Speedwagon and AC/DC
Our condolences to the family, I knew Billy many years, he was a good ole boy!
I had the pleasure to work alongside Bill underwood. He retired, as a Certified Technician, from IndyWest Harley-Davidson. He was very detail oriented and could get as frustrated and grouchy as a woodpecker without its beak. That was normally due to a part issue, that could hold a job up for days and sometimes weeks. After a day or so, he would come back around and let you know that it didnt set right with him or would try to figure out a solution with you. He was a good man at heart. He had Rhino skin, and could hang with the best of them. He was someone you could count on, to be there day in and day out, regardless. He may not have shown it, but he was always in your corner. You will be missed old bud. Rest in peace Bill. Ill never forget your beautiful voice singing Roxanne that would play on the shop speakers. Lol you were one of a kind….
Went to school with Billy. He was in some of my elementary classes and my home rooms all through Jr High and High school
