D. David Allman, 86, Camby, passed away peacefully at home January 3, 2025. David was born in Morgan County on July 11, 1938, to the late James Eugene and Frances Rosaline (Wilber) Allman. David was united in marriage to Sharon (Hord) Allman on July 11, 1964, and she survives.

He graduated from Monrovia High School in 1957 and proudly served in the United States Navy. He was employed as a machinist at Chevrolet for ten years. His mechanical talents were utilized through a 42-year career as a lead mechanic at the Indianapolis International Airport, retiring in 2013.  Exceptionally gifted with a mind that could fix or build anything, he was also a talented woodworker.  He made the Easter cross in 2008 for the Mooresville First Baptist Church. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting in his favorite chair on his front porch. He was also an avid bicyclist.  He and Sharon rode the Hilly Hundred in Brown County for many years.

It is nearly impossible to think of David Allman without thinking of Bassett Hounds. He raised them for 25 years; one year two Bassetts gave birth at the same time resulting in 14 pups. His current dog, Peanut, has been a constant and loyal companion through the years. David will be fondly remembered by a loving family and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Allman.

Guestbook

  1. David was a wonderful husband, father, and Grandfather. We worked with his wife Sharon. They always made you feel like part of their family.

  2. We worked with David’s Wife Sharon what a wonderful family.
They are loving, helpful, knowledgeable and a loving family. He would help and do anything for his family and friends. They loved doing the hilly hundred, I myself was amazed that they could do it when I couldn’t. I loved the fact that David could do anything and loved his family with all of his heart, and his faith in our Heavenly Father. You could not ask for a better person to know. We am so happy to have met him and work with his wife.
I know he is looking down on his wonderful wife who he love with everything in him and say I am in no more pain. But don’t forget they danced when they were younger and shuffle at the end. We are so blessed that the Lord put them in our life. All we can say is Thank you our Heavenly Father for putting David in our lives.
