Susan Lynn Horton

February 10, 1964 ~ March 14, 2025

Born in: Indianapolis, Indiana
Resided in: Mooresville, Indiana

Susan Lynn Horton, 61, of Mooresville, passed from this life on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Meadow Lakes in Mooresville.  She was born in Indianapolis to Harold Dean McCreary and Shirley Elizabeth (Johnson) McCreary.

She was a 1982 graduate of Mooresville High School.  She picked up music at a young age by watching her dad strum on his guitar.  She spent hours playing the guitar and ultimately teaching herself how to play well!  She loved all kinds of music but was a Keith Urban fan.  She was able to attend several of his concerts with her sister, Sharon, and brother-in-law, Terry.  She has a collection of several guitars.  Susan was not content being restricted to inside work at a typical 9 to 5 job.  Before her health declined, she worked as a painter specializing in interior and exterior painting.

Susan did not weigh much more than 110 pounds and was terrified of elevators and escalators. Amazingly, she would and could carry 5-gallon paint buckets up several flights of stairs to avoid having to use the elevator or escalator.  Recently, she had overcome her fear.  Her irrational fear of escalators did not stop her from being a horror movie fan though!  She also enjoyed watching America’s Got Talent, American Idol, and old black and white Andy Griffith.

She enjoyed the outdoors and would spend hours outside doing yardwork or simply relaxing and observing wildlife.  She loved garage sales and spent a lot of time just looking for something to give to someone else or to store for a later project.  Additionally, she enjoyed campfires, summer concerts, listening to countless friends’ bands, attending as many great niece’s and nephew’s birthday parties as she could, and making sure her parents weren’t starving by always delivering lunch, shakes, etc.  An animal lover, she loved her pets and cared for the strays by leaving food out or cracking a garage door.

Susan’s greatest joy and proudest moment was becoming a mom and enjoying countless hours watching Branden excel in sports, bicycling, and skateboarding along with her nephew, AJ.  The saddest day in Susan’s life was most certainly September 5, 2016 when Branden passed.  The family finds great comfort knowing Susan was greeted by Branden upon her passing from this earthly life.

Susan will be deeply missed by many including her beloved father and mother, Harold and Shirley McCreary of Mooresville; brother, David (wife, Teri) McCreary of Spencer; and sisters, Sharon (husband, Terry) Brandenburg of Mooresville and Janet (husband, Rick) Thomas of Mooresville.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, March 21st from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory.  Susan’s Life Celebration® Service will immediately follow, beginning at 11:00 am at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery following the service.
