Carl Douglas Pryor

July 2, 1957 ~ May 12, 2026

Born in: Martinsville, Indiana
Resided in: Mooresville, Indiana

Carl Douglas “Doug” Pryor, 68, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 12, 2026.

Doug was born on July 2, 1957, in Martinsville to the late Norman and Maralou (Dillon) Pryor. He married Leann (Taylor) Pryor on October 25, 1997, and she preceded him in death in 2024.

A proud graduate of Monrovia High School, Class of 1975, Doug was active in athletics, running track, playing basketball, and helping form the school’s very first football team. The friendships built during those years remained lifelong, and he treasured the continued gatherings with his fellow “Porch Boys.”

Doug was deeply proud of his Monrovia roots. As a young boy, he earned his first paycheck mowing lawns throughout town, a reflection of the strong work ethic and determination that would define his life. He cherished his close-knit group of lifelong friends and valued the community connections he maintained over the years.

Doug worked as a CDL truck driver for Jobsite Supply in Indianapolis for more than 20 years before retiring in 2024 due to declining health. Known for being hardworking, dependable, punctual, and always on time, Doug took great pride in his work and the life he built for his family.

He was an avid fan of the Indiana Pacers, Indiana Fever, Indianapolis Colts, and IU Hoosiers. One of the highlights of his final year was seeing IU football win a championship. Doug also loved boating, spending time on the water, relaxing by the pool or beach, gardening flowers, landscaping, and maintaining a lawn he took tremendous pride in.

Doug especially loved gathering with family and hosting cookouts. He was known as the master of the grill — nobody else was allowed to touch it. Those meals, laughter-filled gatherings, and time spent together became some of the memories his loved ones will cherish most.

Above all else, Doug loved his family. He faithfully supported his children in all of their activities and sporting events, and nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

Doug will be remembered for his loyalty, humor, dedication, and the genuine kindness he showed to everyone who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

Survivors include his children, Jordan Davis (Michaela) and Bailey Pryor; grandchildren, Blakely, Carter, and Kylie Davis; sister, Dawn Marsh (Mike); brother, Jeff Pryor; mother-in-law, Patricia Taylor (Kearby); sister-in-law, Vicki Taylor; and many close friends.

In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Leann Pryor; father-in-law, Donald Taylor; and brother-in-law, Doug Taylor.

In honoring Doug’s wishes, his earthly remains will be cremated, and the family will host a Celebration of Doug’s Life on June 6, 2026. Please check back for the location and time.

Rather than traditional floral arrangements, the family invites friends to honor Doug by planting perennials or flowers that will bloom again each year, keeping his memory alive through every season.

Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville is entrusted with Doug’s cremation arrangements.
