Barbara Lee PaHud

Barbara Lee PaHud
After a long and courageous battle with cancer, the world was robbed of a loving, dedicated family member on January 26, 2021. Barabra Lee PaHud of Bargersville (Avon), 74 years of age, was called home to be with her husband (Mike) of 46 years, along with her mother (Florence Louise Bryant Tandy) and father (Lee Willis Tandy).

Dayton, Ohio is where Barbara called her birthplace. She joyfully and frequently told the story of how a blind date would lead to a whirlwind courtship and the beginning of a long and exciting journey with whom she would call her soul mate. Soon, they moved to Indiana to raise their family, daughter Susan (Mike) and son Michael (Holly), ending up in Monrovia, Indiana. Her family was always her pride and joy.

Barbara excelled at many different jobs, including National Cash Register Company (Dayton), Harmon Automotive (Mooresville), seamstress, and in-home childcare. Finishing her career at Sensient Flavors in 2012 where she proudly and frequently announced she was an “organoleptic taste tester”. A common theme to all her jobs was to “never be late” and always be “dedicated to the job”.

Barbara enjoyed rough camping (which included a microwave, air mattress, and half the house), boating with family and friends, sewing, cooking, yardwork, hosting movie nights, riding three-wheelers and dirt bikes, and floating in the pool for hours.

Without question, Barbara’s direction and focus was with her three greatest gifts, her grandchildren. Megan (Seth Berger), Amanda (Nick Berger), and Andrew. Barbara, who never claimed to be a sports fan, made countless journeys to events only to rout for her grandbabies. Yelling loud and proud she often would get her sports confused, yelling “put it in the hoopie” at a football game or “knock em’ down” at a volleyball match. Her cheers and early arrival became a staple.

Additional survivors include her newest members which she was so excited about, great grandchildren Amelia Josephine (1 year) and August (due in April), brother Gary Tandy (Celia) of Missouri , Wanda Long (Bob) of Delaware and Gayle Tandy of Delaware, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her extended family is large and was always dear to her.

Due to Covid and the family’s wishes for all to remain safe, services for Barbara will be private for immediate family taking place on Saturday, January 30, 2021.

Only God could give us such a beautiful, one-of-a-kind gift as Barbara and we pray and know she rests comfortably in his healing hands.

  8. i remember the day mike came to the house early, barb wasn’t home from work yet, they were going out (they were still dating). he showed me the engagement ring he was going to give barb that night. i was so excited for them! later when susan was born and started to talk, she couldn’t say my name (wanda) so she called me nommie. that name stuck with barb, she called me that for years. all my memories are in the early years, and later when we would come from delaware for a visit or they would come in from indiana. i miss barb dearly, as we all do. she is at peace and with mike ( probably giving him wedgies!!!!) i love you barb

  10. There are no words that can express how wonderful and amazing Barb (momma bear) is. Momma bear will be missed but never forgotten. I know momma bear and big daddy Mike are dancing their ass off together once again looking down on all of us with their beautiful smiles. She loved her movies and loved the lake. O Momma bear is so funny and silly. Always making others laugh. I remember we rented a jet ski in Santa Claus Indiana and O big Daddy Mike and Momma bear tried there best getting on that wave running. As soon as they pushed off the dock they rolled it. Momma bear got so damn mad at big daddy mike saying it was his fault because he was too fat and could not balance it so she went back up to the cottage. Michael and I was laughing but knew how seriously mad Barb was. Michael and I had no business on that thing either. We rolled that thing so many times I’m surprised it didn’t sink. That just one of many memories. Momma bear is one hell of a fighter. I could not even imagine the difficulties and pain within the past two years she has endured. Momma bear and Big Daddy Mike are together again and never be forgotten. There will be a day I will see you both again. Love you always! Brad, AKA BJ and the bear.

  11. We are so sorry for your loss Susan. Sending lots of love and prayers to you and your family . Your mother was a wonderful woman that everyone loved.

  12. Sending love, thoughts and prayers to your family. I will miss Barb’s friendship, the laughter and tears we shared, the movies and the trips to the lake. God has another angel and knowing she may have lost the battle but she won the war, she is at peace Wanda Smith

  13. BARBARA PAHUD I met Barb 41 years ago when I married John and joined the Pahud family. But it wasn’t until our wedding night that I witnessed Barb’s sense of humor. She completely trashed our bedroom, bed and bathroom with signs, balloons, crepe paper, crackers, shaving cream and Saran Wrap. I’m sure you get the picture. Needless to say as a newly wed on our wedding night I wasn’t very amused but as the years went by I saw the humor and appreciated Barb’s antics. She definitely liked to have fun in everything she did. When taking pictures she could definitely make some of the funniest faces that I have ever seen and whenever the whole family gathered to take pictures..well you just never knew what they were going to look like. We have some pretty famously funny pictures that will go down in infamy. Most of the funny pictures and good times occurred on the yearly Family vacations at “Jack’s” in Brown County Indiana. It was a week of laughter, fishing, boating, roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, making s’mores and family picnics at the shelter house. And the star of the picnic was always “ Barb’s Famous Banana Pudding” that was also known as “Puds Puds”. And no trip to Jack’s was complete without going to town to shop at Barb’s favorite place “Dollar General”. It was definitely a must do family “Tradition” and secretly we all looked forward to going too. Barb was definitely known as a good cook. Her “ Big Homestyle Breakfast Spread” was delicious and could put Golden Corral to shame. No one ever left her table hungry. Barb loved her flowers and her flower beds were always so beautiful. Barb was a very sweet, funny, caring person that loved her family fiercely and would do anything for you. I’m so glad to have known, loved and been loved by her for 41 years. I am so Blessed to have been able to call her my Friend and Sister in Law or “Out Law” as we sometimes called ourselves. You are missed. I miss you. Love you.

  14. Wonderful Lady She will be so missed Mike/Susan/Mike So sorry for your loss I will keep you all in my prayer. Lot’s of fond memories I will never forget. Roxane
