Barbara (McCoy) Perry

Barbara (McCoy) Perry, 89, lifelong Mooresville resident, passed away peacefully at home January 24, 2022. Mrs. Perry was born May 23, 1932, to the late Veldia “Ted” and Velma Mae (Chambers) McCoy.

She graduated from Mooresville High School in 1950 and married her beloved husband of 70 years, Sonny, on October 20, 1951. From this marriage, a beautiful legacy was created with three daughters, eight grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. Barb, affectionately known as Grams to her family and their friends, had a true gift when it came to taking care of her family. She was an ever-present being at games, events, and competitions of all kinds to support her family. For 40 years, Barb and Sonny hosted the annual Mooresville Homecoming Chili Dinner. She was a gracious and welcoming hostess whose home was always open. Using her creative talents, she volunteered for many years with the craft bizarre at church, decorating for post proms, and Vacation Bible School. She was a devoted member of Mt. Gilead Church. Barb loved the beach and was very content soaking up the rays at Bonita Beach. Her memory will be forever cherished by her loving family and many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Veldia McCoy, Jr., Margaret McCoy, and Mary Merriman.

Survivors include her husband on 70 years, Sonny Perry; daughters, Sandy (David) Lambert, Linda (Gary) Venable, and Joni (Bryant) Hopwood; grandchildren, Ryan (Carrie) Lambert, Adria Lambert; Suni (Kraig) Johnson, Dustin (Melissa) Venable; Kegahn (Shaena) Hopwood, Denton Hopwood, Haliena (Cris) Mynatt, and Keleigh (Cory) Sims; great grandchildren, Maggie, Macina, Nolan, Delaney, Brynn, Jaiden, Madison, Avery, Maddox, Kynlee, Kamri-Jo, Remi, Ryker, Ziek, and Warren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 26, 2022, 5 to 8 p.m., at Mt. Gilead Church, 6019 E. State Road 144, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the church, with Pastor Jeff Faull officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the church; envelopes will be available. Burial will be in the Mooresville Cemetery.   8. Sorry to hear of Barb’s Homegoing!! We first met Barb and Donny Perry when working on the Post Prom when our daughters Joni Perry and Tami Sells were classmates!! My friend Norma Riddle enjoyed visiting them at their Beach House at Bonita Sptings Beach Florida!! We also visited Barb at Health Care in Avon Indiana and Mooresville!! I was honored to share Thanksgivings with her and her lovely family which was truly an inspirational event of sharing and being with her family. Barb will be so sadly missed, my condolences to Sonny and her loving daughters and family.
