Brad J. Sims, 68, of Greenwood, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 14, 2026. He was born in Franklin on December 3, 1957, to the late Donald Sims and Phyllis (Montello) Cruz. He married the love of his life, Barbara Sims, on October 13, 2007.
Brad attended Center Grove High School and graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School in Indianapolis. He went on to complete technical school, preparing for a career defined by dedication and hard work. He was an accomplished heating and air conditioning technician, holding many certifications. Brad was defined by his strong work ethic and his interest in always helping others.
Brad worked for DialOne, Airmaster, Phelps, and Hession before being employed at Williams Comfort Air in 2007. He retired in 2022 to spend more time with his family. Brad often sacrificed time at family gatherings to provide for those he loved most—a reflection of his deep commitment to his family. The boys will always remember his famous line, “I am going to whoop you like a dog.” The love they had for one another was clearly unconditional and very genuine.
In his free time, Brad enjoyed fishing, relaxing with a beverage, and listening to old school rock and roll. He was meticulous about his lawn, never wanting to see any dandelions. His strong green thumb even carried over into his many house plants. An avid outdoorsman, Brad enjoyed his membership in the fishing club, Rockin Reelers.
Brad’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Barb Sims; children, Erick Hale (Tiffany), Zachary (Carrie) Hale, Joshua Hale (Carrie), and Heather Hilbert; grandchildren, Connor, Emma, Dylan, Tony, Katie, Frankie, Landon, Kenna, Brandon, Aubrey, Dylan, and Maren and Kellen; and sisters, Deborah Cox, Rebecca Engleman (Jim), and Sue Ellen Barnett.
