Breck had a gentle spirit that was at peace with belonging to Jesus. On the tall and thin side, he reminded plenty of us of Steve Martin. From time to time he would call to mind funky old rock bands from the seventies, and he wrote futuristic dystopian spy fiction and angsty proto-punk. No matter what struggles he would encounter, he would always come back to Jesus. His interpretation of reality was that God was good and that He was with Breck, though he was anguished by society’s disintegration. When he met Doro he was drawn to and delighted by her childlike heart. When I hung out with Breck, my mind and creativity were stimulated as he shared his thoughts, and I will always remember his tender smile and exuberant laughter!
That is a beautiful and accurate tribute and sums up my memories of Breck!
I’m ecstatic that Breck has gone home to be with his Lord Whom he loved so much and tried to live for and shared The Good News about. Breck was a very unique person who did not fit into this world at all. I only got the chance to get together with him for coffee or ice cream once or twice a year, we should have made it more often. But when we did, I loved to hear him talk about The Lord, his writing, his love of music and movies, his Dorothee, politics, and history. Oh what talent and intellect he had, and what a gentleman he was. I can still hear his whispery, raspy, yet gentle voice. I’m sure his wings are beautiful.
With loving memories of “Breck Brizendine”, such a kind and gentle man. This loss is difficult to understand, so hard to let go of my friend.
