Brenda (Conover) Burton

Brenda (Conover) Burton, age 70, a lifelong resident of Morgan County, passed away on July 30, 2026. Born on February 22, 1956, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late James C. Conover and Betty (Sawyers) Conover, who survives.

Brenda graduated from Martinsville High School in 1974. On her 18th birthday, February 22, 1974, she married the love of her life, Roger Dale Burton, with whom she shared over 52 years of deep devotion. Brenda spent her life nurturing others, working as a cook at Bradford Woods, in the cafeteria at Allison’s, and most recently at Dairyland in Brooklyn.

Outside of work, Brenda embraced life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed tending to her garden, relaxing at home watching old western shows, and playing alongside Roger in their softball league. Brenda was a fiercely strong-willed, caring, and selfless woman who lived with an open heart. She was widely known for looking out for the underdog and always stepping up to help those who were down on their luck.

Brenda’s memory will be forever cherished by her surviving family, including her husband, Roger Burton; her mother, Betty Conover; her two sons, Justin Dale Burton and Benjamin James Burton; her sisters, Sharon Lynne McFarland (Shane Breaner) and Patricia Anne (Darryl) Pletcher; and several beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, James C. Conover, and her sister, Rhonda Sue Newlin.
