Carol J. Davenport, 89, of Mooresville, passed away on April 16, 2026, at Miller’s Senior Living Community. She was born in Indianapolis on December 12, 1936, to the late William and Heloise (Tague) Rooker.

Carol graduated from Martinsville High School. On June 20, 1954, she married Eddie Davenport, who preceded her in death in 2012. Together, they shared many cherished years filled with music, travel, and devotion to family and faith.

A woman deeply rooted in her beliefs, Carol was a devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Mooresville for over 60 years. She found great joy in reading scripture and spending quiet moments immersed in mystery novels.

Carol had a special love for her Yorkshire Terrier dogs, who brought her much companionship and happiness throughout her life. She and Eddie were also proud members of a band, Ole Country Sounds, and spent several years making music together. They especially treasured their trips to Brown County, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

In her later years, Carol found comfort and community at Miller’s Senior Living Community, where she formed meaningful connections and enjoyed being part of the close-knit environment.

Carol will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her love of music, and the warmth she brought to those around her.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her children, Randal Davenport (Marla) and Tammy Vreeland (Paul); 6 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Kathi Ayers (Gordon); and sister-in-law, Nancy Rooker.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by her brothers, Bill Rooker and John David “Jack” Smith.

In honoring Carol’s wishes, her earthly remains will be cremated, and the family will host private services at a later date. She will be laid to rest next to Eddie in Brooklyn Cemetery.
