Born in: Mooresville, Indiana
Resided in: Mooresville, Indiana

Carolyn Jane Kitchen, a lifelong resident of Mooresville, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026, at the age of 91.

Born in Mooresville on December 14, 1934, Carolyn was the beloved daughter of the late Ray S. and Esther (Latta) Moon. On January 20, 1957, she married the love of her life, Kenneth E. Kitchen, with whom she shared a beautiful life until his passing on October 13, 2018.

Carolyn was a proud and exceptionally capable homemaker who took immense pride in creating a warm, welcoming environment. Her home was always impeccably clean, and she took great joy in beautifully decorating for every holiday and tending to her vibrant flower gardens. A remarkably talented craftsperson and accomplished seamstress, Carolyn poured love into everything she made. Above all, she was strongly devoted to her family and held a deep affection for animals, especially her treasured cat, Percy.

The words caring, loving, and caregiver perfectly define Carolyn’s heart. She was a true caregiver at her core, selflessly looking after her mother, aunts, uncles, and even community members who were not related to her as they aged. Her spirit of service extended into the community as a dedicated member of the Mooresville Friends Church, where she faithfully led the funeral dinner ministry. She was also an active member of the Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority and the Order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother, William Moon.

She is survived by her loving children, son Kenneth Wayne Kitchen and daughter Susan Diane Kitchen, who will forever cherish her memory and legacy of unconditional love.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory (39 E.
