Charles Michael Sims

Charles Michael Sims, 72, of Mooresville, peacefully passed from this earthly life on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the Franciscan Health Hospital in Mooresville. Mike, as all knew him, was born on May 20, 1952 in Indianapolis to the late Charles Mitchell Sims and Mary Elizabeth (Powers) Sims.
Mike attended Washington High School in Indianapolis until the end of his sophomore year. The family then moved, and Mike ended his high school education at Southport High School graduating with the class of 1970. Immediately after graduating high school, Mike married the love of his life, Janifred “Jan” Hopwood, on May 23, 1970. The couple has enjoyed over 54 years of marriage. He worked for the Indianapolis Star News for 46 years in the mailroom. In his spare time, Mike was an avid reader. He greatly enjoyed studying and learning about history. Also, he was an IndyCar and NASCAR fan. With family and friends, he treasured pontoon rides on the lake.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends including his wife, Jan Sims of Mooresville; son, Jay (wife, Vicki) Sims of Mooresville; sisters, Susan (husband, Ray) Holland of Martinsville, Sally Harman Blackburn (husband, Steve Blackburn) of Greenwood, and DeeDee (husband, Chet) Kerr of Vermilion, Ohio; and his faithful feline, Milo.
In keeping with Mike’s wishes, his earthly remains have been cremated. Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mike will be greatly missed
I’ll miss Mike, he always was cheerful and fun to be around. He was a great coworker and friend. My prayers are with Jan and his family.
I would always great Mike whit what’s up handsome and then a hug and kiss❤️(he gave pretty good darn hugs). Him and Jan would sit and tell some of the funniest story’s about their time together( loved every moment). I have been so proud to call them family! He will be in my heart forever.

Mike was awesome. I loved being his coworker for 28 years. Most importantly, Mike was a great friend. Thoughts go out to his friends, and especially his family.
Mike was a great co worker and even better friend. I could always talk to him about anything. I will always remember him fondly. He will be missed.
Mike was such a great man. Watched out for me @ the Star, placed me opportunity for good paying jobs. I’ll always be grateful for his help and advice. Mike made the effort to visit my Dad’s showing after passed. Mike was a Great Man, thats just what he did for other’s, Thank You Mike I was blessed to count you as a friend.
