What an outstanding life and a very good man! I never recall ever seeing him when I didn’t part with a smile. My sincerest thoughts and prayers are with his entire family during this difficult time.
So sorry for your loss. I had fun memories of Mr. Hastings at the Woodside house. He was always friendly with a wave and a smile and a “How you doing, Hotrod?”. I know he will be truly missed.
We are very sorry for your loss. David will be deeply missed. We have such fond memories of both of you at our store and our parties. You will all be in our prayers. Stef and Greg Davis and Beth
We did not know David very well but we were fortunate to get to help him celebrate his 90th birthday. We knew he had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a good joke and had many friends who loved him. He was blessed with a loving family and a long life to enjoy them. We knew he loved Gloria and was loved by her. It will be a tough loss for her but we know God can be the closest sometimes when we lose the ones we love. We are praying for God to comfort Gloria and her and Dave’s family during this time.
I have had the blessing of Dave being my life for 40 years. I will miss his humor and his love but be gateful for the life we had together.
I’ve known Uncle Dave since I was a wee boy, and my kid-brain remembers these things about him: sweaters, cologne, and energy. Fortunately, that impression evolved into a loved one who was a regular fixture at family events and often (usually) the life of the party. His amazing ability to live with vigor after retirement, and in spite of the challenges of old age, will continue to inspire me. We’re gonna miss you, Uncle Dave.
My family has called Dave, Uncle Dave since our daughter was born 33 years ago. What fond memories I have of Uncle Dave. He was fun, witty and at times wild. He and Gloria were part of our family. What fun we all had together. We have lost a dear friend and Uncle Dave will be greatly missed. We love you Uncle Dave!!
So on this occasion, maybe 12ish years ago, we had a little family get together in our back yard. Dave is making the rounds with every body and helping to break the ice. He spots his niece Natalia (2ish) sitting in her rolling walker, so he walks up to her and boisterously starts chatting with her in ‘baby talk’ After, say 15 seconds she looks up at him, and gives him a great big raspberry! With a surprised smile and hearty laugh he turns and looks at us. We join him in his laughter. He could always bring comfort and joy to those around him.
He continued to bring peace and a smile to those he met.
With all our Love,
Sal and Lar Terlisner.
Gloria and family, sorry to hear of the loss of Dave. We will be praying for comfort and strength through the coming weeks and months. Stay strong, and lean on the Lord.
Hugs. So sorry for your loss. Praying you can find peace.
From the first greeting “hey hotrod” with a big grin on his face, it was hard not to smile around Dave. He was so full of life, fun, energetic storyteller and engaging speaker. Never dull, always engaging and entertaining with his own brand of exuberance. Kind, giving and fair. He will be missed dearly.
The first time meeting Dave the competition was on. Like the great Indi Speedway racing, it was full on each of us trying to top the other with a better joke or more entertaining story. Grudgingly, I admit Dave won.
My sympathy to Dave’s family. It was a joy to work for Dave for 11 years at Balkamp. Such memories of his humor and being ornery. 91 years,, Wow!!!! Blessings again to Dave’s family & friends !!
