Dorothy May Johnson

Dorothy May (Kingery) Johnson of Mooresville passed away on May 3, 2026 at 9:44 p.m. Dorothy was born September 2, 1933, in Tompkinsville, Kentucky to the late Lawrence and Lura (Proffitt) Kingery.

She lived in Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana growing up. Dorothy graduate from Emerick Manual School, Indianapolis in 1953. She married Billie Floyd Johnson on April 3, 1954 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She worked for Eli Lilly’s for 8 years before becoming a homemaker. Later in the early 70’s started working at First Christian Church until 2018. Mrs. Johnson also taught crocheting and knitting at the Mooresville High School at their adult evening classes in the late 70’s.  Dorothy had four children. She was a member of the Church of God, Indianapolis. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, babysitting and helping people. Dorothy always had a smile for everyone and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death her husband of 65 years, Billie Johnson, a son Michael Ray Johnson, a great grandson Eli Matthew Rose, and a nephew Randall Allen Kingery.

She is survived by three children Pamela Stoneman, Nathan Johnson (Myra), and Melissa Bade (Doug), 9 grandchildren, Shelley Stoneman, Ashley Nemni (Chai), Zachary Stoneman (Ashley), Megan Miller (Rhett), Kaitlyn Parmerlee, Michael Johnson (Kaylee), Jathan Rose (Kelsey), Rachelle Tutterrow (Steven) and Davin Rose (Lauren), 2 step-grandchildren Amanda Loggins (Eric), Patrick Bade (Ashley); 13 great grandchildren Isabella Parmerlee, Avery Johnson, Noah Rose, Chase Rose, Alexis Rose, Jillian Rose, Brendan Tutterrow, McKenzie Tutterrow, Victoria Tutterrow, Naomi Rose, Elijah Rose, Lydia Rose and Daniel Rose, 1 step-great grandchild Truman Bade; siblings, Marie Lentz (Dick) and Roger Kingery (Kit) and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Friday May 15^th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, Indiana with the service following at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mooresville Cemetery.
