Dustin William Marcum

May 9, 1995 ~ April 30, 2026

Born in: Columbus, Ohio
Resided in: Camby, Indiana

Dustin William Marcum, 30, of Camby, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Franciscan Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 9, 1995, to Darrell Eugene Marcum and Lisa Ann (Torrence) Marcum.

Dustin graduated from Center Grove High School with the class of 2013. He had a deep love for art and music, finding joy and expression through drawing and graphic design. Most recently, his artistic passions lied in creating digital music, using it as another outlet for his creativity. Dustin’s imagination and artistic talent allowed him to see beauty in the world and bring it to life in his own unique way. Beyond his creative passions, Dustin was an avid animal lover. He held a special place in his heart for cats, especially Persian cats. His care and affection for animals reflected the empathy he showed to others.

Those who knew Dustin in his earlier years remember him as funny, intelligent, and kind, with a unique sense of humor. He was deeply sensitive to the feelings of others and never wanted anyone to feel excluded or alone. Friends and loved ones continue to carry these memories of his warmth and spirit.

Dustin’s later years brought personal challenges that affected his path and relationships, but he remained someone whose life touched many in meaningful ways. In his final chapter, he found renewed faith in God, which brought him comfort and peace. He will be deeply missed by his family, including his parents, Darrell and Lisa Marcum of Mooresville; sister, Mallory (husband, Josh) Groce of Martinsville; paternal grandmother, Esther Marcum of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; maternal grandparents, Jim and Maryann Torrence of Camby; nephews, Conner Groce and Raylan Groce; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dustin was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Odell Marcum.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, May 17th from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at River Valley Christian Church in Martinsville.  The memorial service will follow at the church.  Dustin’s earthly remains have been cremated.

Guestbook

  1. May the love he gave, in all its imperfect, human forms, find its way back to him. May the pieces of him left in others bring warmth instead of only ache. And may those who miss him most find, in time, that he has not entirely gone, just shifted into places where he can no longer be hurt.
