Erika (Keil) Harris, 78, of Martinsville, passed away on August 4, 2026 at Franciscan Health Mooresville. She was born in Germany in October of 1947. The Keil family was sponsored by a New York family and traveled to the United States on an American troop ship in 1951. Erika became a United States citizen and graduated from Lawrence High School. She worked for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield for several years before she retired.
Erika married Wesley Harris III in December of 1970 and had no children. He preceded her in death in January of 2023. Her close friend, Kay LoSasso, introduced her to Wesley, and soon they became cousins by marriage. Kay remained Erika’s treasured friend throughout the years.
Erika enjoyed her privacy, but one thing was for certain: she loved to read.
Erika was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; parents; and sisters, Irma and Helene.
Survivors include her brother, Albert Keil (Doris); niece, Sandy Hall; and Wesley’s nieces, Kelley Rose, Riley Rose, and Angela Lindauer (Scott), who remained in close contact with Erika even after Wesley’s passing. They loved her dearly and will keep all in their thoughts and prayers.
