  1. I am so sorry to learn of Wayne’s passing. He will always be in my heart. He was my father-in-law for many years. We shared some very passionate conversations about the world and I am grateful for it. I believe that I am a better person for knowing him.

About 8 years ago, I was returning home in the late evening and stopped at a local convenience store to get a Diet Coke. I heard a man talking about music with the cashier. I recognized his voice immediately. I snuck up behind and stated, “he was a helluva musician! I’ve heard him play numerous times!”. He spun around and said, “DOUG!”. Though it had been years since we had spoken, we stood outside for quite a while talking. There was a sincerity in his voice that was that night that was very comforting. He then bought me a six-pack of beer and sent me on my way. I always smile when I think of that evening.

My heart is broken for all of you. I know he will be greatly missed. I hope he’s playing some amazing jazz somewhere as I write this. Love you all.

    Doug
