George Franklin Pierce

George Franklin Pierce, 81, Clayton, died February 3, 2012, peacefully at home. Mr. Pierce was born November 22, 1930, in Owensville, Kentucky, to the late Robert and Artie (Tapp) Pierce.

Mr. Pierce worked for Diamond Chain for 31 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the United Steel Auto Workers Local Union, he enjoyed gardening, and woodworking. Mr. Pierce proudly served in the United States Marines and was discharged as a sergeant in 1959.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Bradley Pierce; sisters, Elizabeth, Cora, Stella, Florine, Dollie Jean, and Hazel.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie (Tracy) Pierce, to whom he was united in marriage July 8, 1961; children, Kimberly McKinney (David) of Fillmore, Tony Pierce (Michelle) of Martinsville, David Pierce of Clayton, Teresa Richey (Terry) of Martinsville, Mike Pierce (Kari) of Amo; brothers, William Pierce of Kentucky, Benjamin Pierce of Indianapolis, Paul Pierce of Poland, Raymond Pierce of Indianapolis; sisters, Thelma Curtis of Indianapolis, Ruth Ginter of Kentucky, and Marie Beall of Arkansas.

The funeral service will begin at 12 Noon, Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 10 a.m. Burial will be in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
