Gloria Dean Walker, 86, of Mooresville, peacefully departed this life and went onto her Heavenly home on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at the Meadow Lakes Senior Living. Born to the late Carl Poynter and Geneva Ruth (Denney) Poynter on January 10, 1940, in Somerset, Indiana, Gloria lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a spirit of generosity that will be deeply missed.
Gloria devoted her life to her family, skillfully managing her household and caring for her husband, children, and then grandchildren. She married Ross Dean Walker on July 21, 1956. They enjoyed over 67 years of marriage before he passed on September 24, 2023. She also contributed to her community through her work at Kendrick’s Hospital in housekeeping and serving as a bus aide for Mooresville Schools. She was a talented cook and baker always making everything from scratch. Known for her culinary delights, she will be fondly remembered for her famous pretzel salad, pumpkin log, and chicken pot pie – served with love.
Gloria had a green thumb and a proclivity for gardening and canning, often sharing the fruits of her labor with those around her. Her keen decorating sense transformed her home into a haven of warmth and beauty, where family and friends gathered to share laughter and create lasting memories.
An active member of The Brooklyn Church of God, Gloria’s commitment to her faith and community was evident in all she did. She was always on the move, her energetic spirit inspiring those around her. Her greatest joy came from her children and her beloved grandchildren, for whom she was an unwavering supporter, often present at their extracurricular activities, cheering them on with pride.
She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her host of loving family including her sons, Robert (wife, Kathy) Walker of Hall and Rodney (wife, Becky) Walker of Mooresville; daughter, Rhonda (husband, Phillip) Thomas of Camby; sister, Susie Quillin of Plainfield; brothers, Clinton (wife, Arlene) Poynter of Monrovia and Tom Poynter of Clearwater, FL; sister-in-law, Linda Poynter of Mooresville; grandchildren, Toni (husband, Chris) Eash of Plainfield, Dana (husband, Brian) Foreman of Zionsville, Rodney Walker Jr. of Mooresville, and Kristi (husband, Sam) Kean of Willesley, MA; and 9 adored great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Geneva Poynter; husband, Ross Walker; son, Ross Douglas Walker; and daughter, Brenda Gail Walker.
