Gordon F. Whitaker

Gordon F. Whitaker, 82, Freedom, formerly of Mooresville, died January 16, 2013, in IU Hospital, Bloomington. Mr. Whitaker was born August 29, 1930 in Marion County, to the late Forrest Whitaker and Helena (McGee) Noe.
Mr. Whitaker graduated from Manuel High School and proudly served in the United States Army. He worked as a truck driver and mechanic for Marathon Oil Company for 30 years, retiring in 1986. He was a lifetime member of the Mooresville VFW Post 1111 and also a member of the Freedom Baptist Church.
Mr. Whitaker was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Whitaker; sister, Zona Polston.
Survivors include his sons, Gordon J. Whitaker (Tammy) of Martinsville and Martin V. Whitaker (Beth) of Magnet; daughter, Cindy Mask (Ronnie) of Freedom; six grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Monday, January 21, 2013, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
