Harold "Andy" Anders

Harold “Andy” Anders, 88, Mooresville, passed away surrounded by family May 29, 2023, after a brief illness. Andy was born April 12, 1935 in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Harold B. Anders Sr. and Florence (Wood) Anders. He married Jacqueline (Dunham) Anders on August 24, 1957, and she survives.

Andy graduated from Danville High School and proudly served in the United States Army, based in Korea. He began working for Indiana Bell and enjoyed a successful career, retiring from Ameritech as an internal auditor in 1991. Never one to sit still, Andy had several “retirement jobs,” including work as a realtor, starting a home improvement business, managing the Delphi suite at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and most recently working at Winding River Golf Course. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and loved to travel. Andy was a member of the BMW Motorcycle Club and the Corvette Club. For years, he restored and collected various Corvairs before turning his attention to Corvettes. He was a member of the West Newton United Methodist Church, Decatur Central Lions Club, and the West Newton Masonic Lodge. Andy never met a stranger, and his quick wit was an endearing quality that friends and family dearly loved. Above all, he was strongly devoted to his family. Andy’s memory will be forever cherished by his loving family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by sisters Anna Anders, Florence Herrmann, and Georgianna Malone.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Jacqueline; children, Kaye (Mike) Gaither and Kraig (Robin) Anders; sister, Kathleen (the late Tom) Rogers; twin grandsons, Jason (Chelsea) Gaither and Joshua (Cara) Gaither; and three great grandchildren, Rosie, Fiona, and Cameron Gaither.

Andy’s Life Celebration Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at the West Newton United Methodist Church, 6843 Mendenhall Road, Indianapolis. Visitation will be Friday, June 2, 2023, 12 Noon to 2 p.m., with services beginning at 2 p.m. Pastor Anne Gatts will officiate, and burial will follow in West Newton Cemetery.  Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, is serving the family.
