Hazel Marie Oliver

Hazel Marie Oliver, 75, Indianapolis, died May 8, 2012. Mrs. Oliver was born October 27, 1936, in Connersville, to the late Alvin and Lena Corrine (Carraway) Hammer.

She graduated from Harrison High School. Mrs. Oliver retired from Dob’s in Indianapolis and was previously employed at Western Electric and G.E. She also ran the Virginia Grill for many years in Indianapolis. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, and crossword puzzles.

Mrs. Oliver was preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby Meeks, Charlie Hammer, and Leslie Hammer.

Survivors include her children, Kenneth Earl Averitt (Denise) of Indianapolis, Janet Marie Smith (Steven) of Clayton, and Douglass Allen Averitt (Evelyn) of Monrovia; significant other of twenty-five years, Ray Rippy of Indianapolis; sister, Shirley Gruell of Connersville; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.

Friends and family will gather on Thursday, May 10, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The graveside service will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, May 11, 2012, in Dale Cemetery, Connersville.
