Henry L. Pierce

Henry L. Pierce, 81, Martinsville, died February 10, 2013, in his residence. Mr. Pierce was born May 29, 1931, in Giles County, Tennessee, to the late Willie Chesley and Jola Elizabeth (McLemore) Pierce.
He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Pierce worked for Federal Mogul in Mooresville and retired as the night foreman. A talented bluegrass musician, he enjoyed playing the guitar, banjo, mandolin, and fiddle. He will be forever missed by his loving family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, John Wallace Pierce, Easter Ellen Weiss, Ruth Lee Lawrence, Arvil Bass Pierce, Andrew Jackson Pierce, Bobby Ross Pierce, Lonnie Steve Pierce.
Survivors include his wife, Louise (Phillips) Pierce, to whom he was united in marriage September 4, 1955; children, Karen Pierce, Phillip Pierce, and Donna Ciesielski (Paul); grandchildren, Patrick Pierce Ciesielski and Marisa Danielle Ciesielski.
The memorial service will begin at 7 p.m., Friday, February 15, 2013, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 p.m. Cremation will take place at the Morgan County Crematory, Mooresville. Henry was a swell guy and great singer of bluegrass. He was so kind to write out the words to ‘This Flower’ and give to me. I heard him sing it and loved it. Thanks Henry. I will miss you at the bluegrass festivals. Jr. Roop
