June 4, 1945 - December 20, 2010 James “Pop” R. Schmaltz, 65, of Monrovia (Wilbur), passed away Monday, December 20, 2010, in his residence. He was born June 4, 1945, in Osgood, to the late Roy and Edna (Kelch) Schmaltz.
I am truely saddened by his passing… He was my friend and one of the best men I have ever known…. I will surely miss his presence.
Bluegrass Music In Heaven Hear it whisper in the wind if you listen you will hear High in the low and lonesome sound They’re playin banjo and guitar strummin’ softly from afar As harmonies float on the breeze They’re playin bluegrass music
Pop was one of the best men I have ever known as well. Someone once said that we have ‘musical fathers’ and I believe he was mine… I will be missing you Pop, I will be missing you.
Whenever I needed something, I knew just who to go see. Pop had it, whatever it was… to start my car, fix my golf cart brakes, or maybe just a Pappa Smurf hug. God Bless Jim Schmaltz.
Is the grass any bluer on the other side? He was the best bass teacher I could have asked for. Pop, you will be greatly missed!
Pop, You were the best. I’ll cry many tears through my years missing you. Love T
