James W. Helton, 71, Mooresville, died April 12, 2013, in IU Health, University Hospital, Indianapolis. Mr. Helton was born January 28, 1942, in Kentucky, to the late Walter F. and Mary (Stepp) Helton.
Mr. Helton proudly served in the United States Navy. He worked for many years as a self-employed construction contractor, specializing in carpentry. He enjoyed all things outdoors, especially fishing, camping, and mushroom hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Linda (Keown) Helton, to whom he was united in marriage April 17, 1975; son, James Walter Helton II of Jasonville; step-children, Terri Walden of Avon, Don Bostic of Indianapolis, and Mark Bostic of Mooresville; sister, Jaynie Vaughn of South Carolina; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; nephew, Joseph Fowler.
