Jerry A. Westenhofer

Jerry A. Westenhofer, 62, Mooresville, passed away unexpectedly at home on May 3, 2018. Jerry was born August 9, 1955, in Indianapolis, to the late Paul R. and Mary L. (Fowlkes) Westenhofer.

Jerry graduated from Mooresville High School and had served in the Indiana National Guard. He worked for many years as the manager of Swifty in Mooresville and also had worked for the Avon School Corporation. Most recently, Jerry was a correctional officer for the Reception Diagnostic Center in Plainfield. He was a member of the VFW Post 1111, American Legion Post 103, Mooresville Eagles, and was proud to serve on the Mooresville Honor Guard. He enjoyed playing Yahtzee, shooting pool, and fishing. He was a kind and caring person who was always willing to help others.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, John Westenhofer; half-brother, David Jesters; half-sister, Fern Clark.

Survivors include his loving wife, Evelyn (Scaggs) Westenhofer; son, Jay Westenhofer of Lebanon; step-son, James (Gloria) Hughes of Indianapolis; brothers, David Westenhofer of Avon and Myron Westenhofer of Mooresville; sisters, Myra Carter of Mooresville, Marcia Rogers of Mooresville, and Paulette Parsley of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Mariah and Vivian.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2018, 2 to 6 p.m., in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2018, in the funeral home, with burial following at the Mooresville Cemetery. He always tried to take care of everyone else even when he wasn’t feeling so hot himself. I will miss you my friend but we will take the best care of Evelyn down here as best we can for ya.   6. Jerry was such a caring man. He often spoke to me about his love of Evelyn and the rest of his family. He never failed to take the time to ask how my family and I were doing. He cared about his work and coworkers and never hesitated to offer help or just lend an ear. He will be missed by everyone. My deepest sympathies to all his family and may Jerry rest in peace.

    I am so sorry to hear of Jerry’s passing. He was such a special person, beautiful inside and out!   12. I liked working with Jerry and his wife at Plainfield. They went out of there way to keep me safe on my job. Jerry was kind and considerate. So sorry for your loss. I miss working with all the officers at Plainfield Correctional . They always had my back.

  14. I have known Jerry for many years when I heard he had passed away I couldn’t believe it every time I ever saw Him he always had something to say to u I remember when he was manager at swifty I would stop there to get gas and he would come out to pump your gas he was always so happy RIP Jerry
