Jerry A. Westenhofer

Jerry A. Westenhofer, 62, Mooresville, passed away unexpectedly at home on May 3, 2018. Jerry was born August 9, 1955, in Indianapolis, to the late Paul R. and Mary L. (Fowlkes) Westenhofer.
Jerry graduated from Mooresville High School and had served in the Indiana National Guard. He worked for many years as the manager of Swifty in Mooresville and also had worked for the Avon School Corporation. Most recently, Jerry was a correctional officer for the Reception Diagnostic Center in Plainfield. He was a member of the VFW Post 1111, American Legion Post 103, Mooresville Eagles, and was proud to serve on the Mooresville Honor Guard. He enjoyed playing Yahtzee, shooting pool, and fishing. He was a kind and caring person who was always willing to help others.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, John Westenhofer; half-brother, David Jesters; half-sister, Fern Clark.
Survivors include his loving wife, Evelyn (Scaggs) Westenhofer; son, Jay Westenhofer of Lebanon; step-son, James (Gloria) Hughes of Indianapolis; brothers, David Westenhofer of Avon and Myron Westenhofer of Mooresville; sisters, Myra Carter of Mooresville, Marcia Rogers of Mooresville, and Paulette Parsley of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Mariah and Vivian.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2018, 2 to 6 p.m., in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2018, in the funeral home, with burial following at the Mooresville Cemetery. He was always fun and loving. Enjoyed life to the fullest and always wanted the best for his family and friends.
Jerry was one of the nicest, thoughtful people I have met. I never saw him without a smile. RIP my friend. Praying for Evelyn and the family.

I do not think that I have met a nicer more caring person. Jerry always had a smile on his face and a kind word to give. He was such a great person to know and work with and will be greatly missed by all. Praying for Evelyn and his family.
What a delightful day in heaven, another angel received their wings today. Jerry was a dear friend, and co-worker. He always tried to take care of everyone else even when he wasn’t feeling so hot himself. I will miss you my friend but we will take the best care of Evelyn down here as best we can for ya. A wonderful friend of many years… treasured memories
Jerry was such a caring man. He often spoke to me about his love of Evelyn and the rest of his family. He never failed to take the time to ask how my family and I were doing. He cared about his work and coworkers and never hesitated to offer help or just lend an ear. He will be missed by everyone. My deepest sympathies to all his family and may Jerry rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear of Jerry’s passing. He was such a special person, beautiful inside and out! He will truly be missed but I know Heaven is rejoicing at another special child of God has now earned his wings. I will keep all of you in constant thought and prayer during this difficult time. I’m so very sorry to hear. He had a kind heart and a warm smile. Pop and Mom were great to work with. I will dearly miss him. Evelyn, you are in my prayers.
Jerry was a sweet man. I enjoyed seeing him in the early morning hours always with a smile and a kind word. He truly was one of a kind. He will greatly be missed by all. Thoughts and prayers to you Evelyn and family.
Jerry was a kind soul and a caring man. No matter what he was going through himself, he always wanted to know how you and your family were. Seems every day I saw him he would ask “brother, how’s the family?” He is going to be missed by many. Great friend and coworker to me for the last 10 years. Many prayers to his family and friends.
Jerry was one of the first to take me under his wing. I was a 24 year old, immature idiot of a kid. Jerry helped show me what it meant to be responsible and to be a man. I’ll miss his positive attitude and his warm smile. He always put others ahead of himself. Rest with the Lord, Mr. Westenhofer.

I liked working with Jerry and his wife at Plainfield. They went out of there way to keep me safe on my job. Jerry was kind and considerate. So sorry for your loss. I miss working with all the officers at Plainfield Correctional . They always had my back.

Thoughts and prayers are with the family
Jerry was one of my favorite customers. I seen him and his wife Evelyn the day before he passed. I am grateful to have gotten to know Jerry and beyond excited to cladopt him and Evelyn as family. I love you guys
I have known Jerry for many years when I heard he had passed away I couldn’t believe it every time I ever saw Him he always had something to say to u I remember when he was manager at swifty I would stop there to get gas and he would come out to pump your gas he was always so happy RIP Jerry
