John Robert Gregory

John Robert Gregory, 85, lifelong Morgan County resident, passed away December 13, 2022. Mr. Gregory was born May 19, 1937, in Madison Township, Morgan County, to the late Horace Beverly and Edith Naomi (McQuiston) Gregory. He married Patricia Kay (Shover) Gregory on August 28, 1960, and she survives.


Mr. Gregory attended Walnut Grove Elementary School and Mooresville High School with the class of 1955. As a young man, he was involved in FFA, 4H, and played basketball in high school. He was a dairy farmer his entire working life until his retirement in 2015.  He and Pat were involved with Clay Township Farm Bureau for many years.  Mr. Gregory was a member, deacon, and deacon emeritus at the Brooklyn Christian Church his entire life, a church that his great great grandfather helped build. He was also an avid IU Basketball and Bob Knight fan. He enjoyed gardening and took great pride in caring for his property. John will be fondly remembered by his loving family.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Ralph Eugene Gregory; one sister, Rose Mary Gregory Tumey.


Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Patricia Kay Gregory; children, John Robert Gregory, Jr., Katholeen Kiley Gregory Jackson (Roger) and Jeremy Ryan Gregory (Melissa); sister, Beverly Ann Gregory Heacox; grandchildren, Gregory Stephen Long, Casey Ryan Long (Jocelyn), Jadon Rose Jackson Tinkle (Cody), Abbigail Breanne Gregory, Paige Amanda Gregory, and Jeren Ryan Gregory.


Visitation will be Friday, December 16, 2022, 5 to 8 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the funeral home.   1. I enjoyed many times milking the cows side by side with uncle john. Another memory i have was uncle john having to come and get me when the bull got loose and chased me up the tree. I have a lot of other memories of this great man. He will forever be in my thoughts.
