Guestbook

  1. I’ve known Bev and Joe for a very long time, and he was always in a good mood and loved to tease and joke with people. You’re in a better place now, old friend – the battle’s over and it’s time to rest. God Bless you! Darlena Riley

  2. Heaven gained a hero yesterday… For 48 years, Joe Beikman and I had a running feud. In typical Joe fashion (meaning he put his mind to something and promptly and methodically executed his plan to make it become reality), he met my best friend, romanced her, swept her off her feet and married her in October 1970, putting an end to our plans of Beverly Haymaker Beikman going off to Purdue University and being my college roommate. (To be honest, I had forgiven him some time ago.) Joe made Bev happy, kept her that way, too! Together they created two wonderful and talented daughters who, in turn, continued the legacy bringing them the gift of loving and lovable grandchildren. And together they served the community, along with friends and family. Service seem/ed/s to be a theme for the Joe Beikman family and Joe led them by example. He was quiet (mostly) but never shy about speaking up for what he believed and put actions to his words that, as well, served to better us all. Remarkably, he also bore the onslaught of pancreatic cancer quietly, preferring to remain strong for others as he fought his battle privately. The world has lost a champion of a man, the Mooresville-Waverly community has lost a patron, advocate, tireless worker and practitioner of good will, the Haymaker-Beikman-Kelly family has lost a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother (-in-law), uncle, and I, as so many of you, have lost a friend of worth. I invite you to join me as we weep and mourn this loss to offer comfort to his family, to pick up the gauntlet he has had to lay aside and to celebrate a life well-lived, sharing the joy that we had the privilege of having Joe Beikman in our lives. I will miss you, my friend. Rest well now, beyond the pain. God, in your mercy, grant us your Peace. Hail Purdue~Boiler up~Go Blue~Family is forever~Love one another~Cancer Sucks~Go big or go home~Vote! Amen. X

  3. Bev, we were so sorry to hear about Joe’s passing, our thoughts & prayers are with you and your family at this time. With Sincere Sympathy, Tom & Marilyn Hamilton

  4. Joe was always nice and helpful to me with all of my questions. You and your family are in my prayers.

  5. Beverly and all Haymaker family and dear friends: This is Kathy Hodges Brownell from Northern New York. Beverly and I were and will always be best friends from days on that yellow school bus. She and I shared so many wonderful funny stories and memories. We laughed until our sides ached, every day! Anyone who met and married my special friend is also a special friend to me and my family, and Joe was certainly that for Bev. He was “her rock,” as Bev told me on the phone this weekend. He was everything for her, her daughters, families and sweet grand children. He was so helpful, responsible, giving, took such wonderful care of her and all that was dear to her. We love you Joe in heaven, love you Beverly and all the Haymaker family. God Bless You. Kathy and Dan.. Sara and Jonathan (in Arizona and Seattle)

  6. What a lovely tribute, Bev, to Joe and your family and grand children.. .the Morgan Co Fair, Old Pioneer Park, recognized that.. so many trips to Vegas and to cool, fun spots for you and Joe… you did so much together and laughed so much. We love you and don’t want you to be so sad. Our hearts go out to you. Love and God Bless. Kathy (Hodges) and Dan Brownell
