Josephine Cornett, age 86, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2026 at Countryside Meadows in Avon. Jo, as many knew her, was born on November 6, 1939, in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Raymond Wilkerson and Sally Marie (Dunn) Wilkerson.
On November 11, 1960, she married her beloved husband, Jesse B. Cornett, who preceded her in death on August 6, 2015. Together, they built a warm and loving home, where Josephine thrived as a dedicated homemaker. She was known for her passion for flowers, camping adventures, and joyful outings boating at Green River on Lake Monroe and Raccoon Lake in Rockville. Above all, she adored her family and spending time with them.
Jo will be missed many including her sons, Steven Cornett (significant other, Penny) and Gregory (wife, Chastie) Cornett, brother, Charles Wilkerson; grandchildren, Tyler, Nick, Zach, and Zoey; and great grandchildren, Zage and Zayla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Sally; brothers, Darrell Wilkerson and JC Wilkerson; and sister, Alma Johnson.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, August 24th at Carlilse – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Jo’s Life Celebration® service will follow beginning at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Fairfield Friends Cemetery in Camby following the service.
