Kevin Keplinger Shelley

 

Kevin Keplinger Shelley, 63, of Mooresville, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, November 25, 2023.  He passed peacefully in the comfort of his home after a long battle with Parkinsons disease.  He was born on August 6, 1960 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Carl William Shelley and Marceille (Keplinger) Shelley.

He graduated from Elmhurst High School in Fort Wayne with the class of 1978. 
He then attended and graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in education and then earned a master’s degree in management from Indiana Wesleyan University. Kevin worked at Rolls Royce as a plant layout engineer.  He also was a private contractor painter for over 40 years.

Kevin married his best friend, Jane Ellen Opperman, on April 21, 1990.  He was a loving husband to his wife of 33 years and a loving father to his children, Abe and Tee. 

He enjoyed being outdoors and enjoyed hunting and football.  He also enjoyed traveling.  He was a member of the Glens Valley Conservation Club, was an Odd Fellow, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mooresville.  He was a Call for Action volunteer with the Indianapolis Star where he enjoyed helping many people.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his friends and family including his wife, Jane of Mooresville; sons, Abraham Shelley and Tristan Shelley both of Mooresville; sisters, Karen (husband, Lee) Robertson oof Hazel Green, AL, Katherine (husband, Kent) Slick of Ben Wheeler, TX; and Karlene (husband, Roc) Byrd of Danville; and his best canine pal, Avery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Marceille Shelley.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service and Crematory. The service celebrating Kevin’s life will begin at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the funeral home.  He will be laid to rest following the graveside service at 1:30 pm in Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton.
