Laura Marie Alward, 57, of Indianapolis, passed suddenly on Friday, May 29, 2026 at her home. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 3, 1968 to the late Eddie Fisher and Carolyn Barnes.
With a contagious smile, Laura was known for humor and kindness. She loved and adored her husband, Robert Alward, and family. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and was an amazing cook. She greatly enjoyed cooking the time-honored family recipes she cherished and passed down.
An extraordinary homemaker, Laura had a remarkable ability to lighten any room she entered. Her infectious smile, quick wit, and passion for dancing created countless cherished memories. She was known not only for her culinary talents but also for her impeccable cleanliness; never in her home was there a corner that didn’t shine.
Laura will be deeply missed by many including her husband, Robert Alward; sons, Brandon Fisher and Clay (wife, Hannah) Alward; daughter, Haley (husband, Will) Ellis; sister, Melissa (husband, Tommy) Faulkenberg; grandchildren, Alexis Fisher, Sawyer Ellis, Augustus Ellis, Charlie Ellis, and Lucy Ellis; and uncle, Alvin Barnes Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie Fisher and Carolyn Barnes; grandfather, Alvin “Poppy” Barnes Sr.; and brother, Eddie Lee.
There are no public services scheduled for Lauara at this time. Her earthly remains have been cremated.
