Lloyd W. Groover

Lloyd Wayne Groover, 89, Danville, transitioned to his heavenly home on January 26, 2022, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Lloyd was born November 22,1932 to the late Walter and Mary (Harshburgar) Groover of Pittsboro, Indiana.
Mr. Groover proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Soon after he was honorably discharged, the Korean War came to an end after he flew in 50 combat missions as a tail gunner in a B-26. Lloyd married the love of his life, Nancy Adamson on September 8, 1952. He was a General Foreman at Allison Transmission, where he was employed for 40 years. After retiring, Lloyd began his favorite hobby in woodworking. He enjoyed solving crossword puzzles from the newspaper, watching IU men’s and The Pacers play basketball, and loved watching old western movies, starring John Wayne. He was a lifetime resident of Avon, for 60 years. Lloyd faithfully attended church at Harvest Missionary Baptist Church in Danville.
In addition to his parents, Lloyd was proceeded in death by a brother, Jewell Groover; sister, Christine Stephenson; and sons, Danny Ray Groover and Robin Groover.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Nancy; sons, Jeffery (Teresa) Groover and John Mark (Missy) Groover; daughter Cathy (Stephen) Jones; daughter in law Joyce Groover; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Gregory) Allspaw, Adam (Tiffany) Jones, Brett (Leanne) Jones, Bart Jones, John Mark (Faith) Groover II, Jordan (Shawn) Sattler, Zachary Groover, Nicole (Nick) Neibel, Mikayla Groover, Katelin Groover, and Amber Taylor; Naomi Hampton, John Betzold, Jerry (Samantha) Betzold, James Betzold, Aaron (Khelsea) Johnson, Carrie (B.J. Kelley) Matthys and 12 great grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather for Lloyd’s Life Celebration® Visitation on Monday, January 31, 2022, 12 to 3 p.m., at Harvest Missionary Baptist Church, 4285 E. Main St. Avon. The funeral service will begin at 3p.m. with burial following at Spring Hill Cemetery, Cartersburg.
So sorry to hear about Lloyd. My prayers are with all of his family and friends. He will be missed by all that knew him. But I know he is a peace . Sister Judy Barnett
